Tagetes lemmonii | Mountain marigold | Medicinal Uses

View photos of the medicinal plant Tagetes lemmonii (Mountain marigold), profiled in Medicinal Plants of the American Southwest.

A passage from Medicinal Plants of the American Southwest:

The plant has an interesting effect on the nervous system and corresponding emotional outlook. Shortly after the fresh plant tincture is taken, a calming quality can be felt along with a lightness of mind, sometimes to the extent of giddiness. I have seen the effects of this plant useful in times of fixated emotional morbidity.

Mountain marigold tea is soothing to stomach and upper small intestinal irritation. If the upper gastrointestinal tract is inflamed, this plant offers relief through its mild antiinflammatory and analgesic properties. Use it if suffering from gastritis, pre–ulcer conditions, and gas pains.
