Lathyrus graminifolius | Peavine

View photos of the (potentially poisonous) plant Lathyrus graminifolius (Peavine).

A number of Lathyrus  species produce 3 β-N-oxalyl-L-α,β-diaminopropionic acid (β-ODAP), a nervous system affecting toxin, concentrated mostly in the seeds (beans). Known as lathyrism, human and animal poisonings are well-documented. It is unknown whether or not this species is problematic.
