A passage from Medicinal Plants of the Western Mountain States:
Sufferers of spastic diarrhea (unrelated to infestation), borborygmus, or the dull ache of lower intestinal spasm, will find the tea or tincture relieving. If anxiety is a contributing factor, it combines well with a nervous system sedative such as Pedicularis or Skullcap, or if ulcerative colitis is the principle concern, then Canadian fleabane. Moreover, the plant’s tannin content adds to its therapeutic influence when diarrhea exists as a symptom.
