A passage from Medicinal Plants of the Western Mountain States:
As a liniment or short–term soak, Sneezeweed’s external use is medicinal due to an array of aromatic lactones and volatiles. It’s diminishing to the acute pain of contusions, blows, and falls – essentially injuries that have left the skin unbroken, but are likely to bruise and swell. Relatedly, it makes a useful after–practice liniment for any contact sport participant.
