View photos of the edible plant, Callirhoe involucrata (Winecup), profiled in Wild Edible Series: Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas: Vol 1.
A passage from Wild Edible Plants of Texas (Volume 1):
There are no cautions for Winecup. There are several other Texas species of Callirhoe that are of interest: all will have edible foliage. The perennials (like Winecup) potentially have edible roots, whereas the annuals will generally have a small woody taproot. Each should be approached and experimented with individually.
